Temporary status
This is a special status that applies at EU level to people who have fled the war in Ukraine. It is available to all who lived in Ukraine before February 24, 2022 and arrived in Luxembourg after February 24, 2022 or shortly before.

Help with documents
After registration, Ukrainians with temporary protection status must obtain and keep several important documents. These documents give Ukrainians who fled the war in Ukraine the legal right to stay in Luxembourg. They also give them the right to work in Luxembourg, the right to travel within the EU, and the right to return to Ukraine for a short period of time with the possibility of returning to Luxembourg.

Work for Ukrainians
Temporary protection beneficiaries are exempt from applying for a temporary work permit and are therefore free to access the Luxembourg labor market without the need for a special authorization as long as their temporary protection certificate is valid.

Search for housing
After being placed in an initial reception center, people under temporary protection can be relocated to dormitories or families.

Medical assistance
Free medical, social and psychological counseling for people who do not yet have a number CNS and for everyone who has received a CNS card or Temporary Protection Status!

Education kindergartens
There are more than 80 kindergartens in Luxembourg, half of which are located in the capital.

Education school
Children from Ukraine have the right to access the education system under the same conditions as Luxembourg citizens.

Higher education
Luxembourg has a multi-level system of higher education, including bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs.

Computers and telephones
All adults can register for a free (used) laptop or desktop computer.

Registration of vehicles
Any person who has moved to Luxembourg and brought a car with license plates of another country, must re-register this car within 6 months.

Transportation in Luxembourg
All types of public transportation within the country are free of charge. Public transportation in Luxembourg is buses, trains, trams, and a funicular.

If I brought an animal
The European Commission, in cooperation with Member States has decided to derogate from these requirements to facilitate the entry of refugees with their pets.

Study languages in Luxembourg
One of the main requirements for obtaining Luxembourg nationality is a mandatory knowledge of the Luxembourg language.
