Advocacy Coalition Launch Event: The Abduction of Ukrainian Children
March 23 @ 14:00 - 18:00

23 March marked the launch of our new advocacy project — Advocacy Coalition: Defending Our Future Now.
We held our first public event — a debate dedicated to one of the most devastating consequences of Russia’s war: the abduction of Ukrainian children.
The discussion brought together representatives of European institutions, civil society, and Ukrainian voices to raise awareness and call for action.

The event opened with the official greetings from:
- H.E. Barbara Karpetová, Ambassador of the Czech Republic
- Inna Yaremenko, Vice President of LUkraine and Ombudsperson for Ukrainians in Luxembourg

A powerful video address by Dmytro Lubinets, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine set the tone by outlining the scale and systematic nature of child deportations.

One of the most emotional moments was the testimony of Kseniia-Anastasiia (19 y.o) — a young Ukrainian who was abducted by Russia. Her story gave a human face to this crime and deeply resonated with the audience.

The keynote speech by Oleksandra Matviichuk, Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights defender, highlighted the legal and humanitarian dimensions of these crimes and the urgent need for international response.

The event continued with a high-level panel discussion featuring:
- Claude Wiseler, President of Chambre des Députés Grand-Duché de Luxembourg
- Marc ANGEL, Member of European Parliament
- Anne Calteux, Head of Commission européenne au Luxembourg
This first event set a strong foundation for our Advocacy Coalition — bringing the issue of abducted Ukrainian children to the center of European attention.
