“My Dear Théo” & Debate on Ukraine

Join us for a moving evening that blends cinema and civic dialogue.

The event begins with the screening of the documentary My Dear Théo by Ukrainian filmmaker Alisa Kovalenko, who will personally present the film and take part in a Q&A session with the audience.

In My Dear Théo, Kovalenko—both a mother and a volunteer on the front line—creates intimate video diaries and poetic letters to her five-year-old son, Théo, from the battlefield. Filmed during her service in the Ukrainian Volunteer Army following Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, the documentary captures the devastating reality of war, the chaos of conflict, and the quiet strength born of camaraderie among soldiers. These raw images are interwoven with reflections on motherhood, duty, and the enduring bond that survives even in the darkest times.

 The evening continues with a debate on the situation in Ukraine, moderated by Luxembourgish journalist Philippe Shockweiler.
