An ambulance that was attacked while in service in Ukraine was brought to Luxembourg by LUkraine in October 2022. The people in it survived; the vehicle could no longer serve as an ambulance. Through Ukraine is Calling, it has taken on another role: bearing witness to the danger faced by medical teams.
In August, its European journey reached Portugal, the tenth country on the tour. The ambulance featured at FATACIL from 21 to 30 August, bringing its story to visitors at the Portuguese fair.
The Portuguese presentation involved SOS Oncológico / GAiN – Global Aid Network and Oranta – Associação de Apoio à Comunidade Ucraniana em Portugal. The wider international project brings together LUkraine, Charity Foundation “A Single Goal UA” and Ilizner Marija.
Thank you to the partners who help this story travel. The damaged vehicle gives a tangible form to a reality that can otherwise feel far away: the risks faced by people providing care in Ukraine.
