SUMMARY:UKRAINE IS CALLING: Installation in front of the European Parliament in Brussels
DESCRIPTION:From 2 to 9 February the firetruck and ambulance that were destroyed during the war in Ukraine will be installed in Brussels in front of the European Parliament. \nIn March 2022\, 2 fire trucks exploded on a landmine in Kyiv’s residential suburb\, 20 km from the city center while the crew was extinguishing the fire. As a result of this tragedy\, 8 firemen were seriously injured\, and one of them got his leg amputated. The ambulance car was shelled by Russian troops in a village in the Kharkiv region.\nThese vehicles were delivered from Ukraine by volunteers of LUkraine asbl within a framework of the global fundraising campaign UKRAINE IS CALLING.They aim to present real evidence of the war in Ukraine and remind everyone it is still on. Before these rescue vehicles were delivered to Brussels\, they had been installed in Luxembourg. The firetruck was set up in the capital\, and the ambulance installation took place in Esch-Sur-Alzette (Luxembourg) \, in Metz (France)\, and in Strasbourg (France).\nNow the vehicles remind parliamentarians of the European Parliament that Ukraine is waiting for decisive actions.\nDuring wartime\, civilians whose lives are in constant danger must have free access to medical help and rescue services. Ukrainian firefighters and medical workers work in hot spots\, frontline\, and mined territories. Also\, Russian troops target rescuing vehicles to thwart civilians’ salvation and constantly shell them with missiles\, mines\, or gunfire. These dangerous conditions not only drastically complicate rescuers’ work\, but also jeopardize savior lives.\n“At the beginning of 2023\, the Ukrainian State Emergency Service reported the death of 57 saviors. 1629 fire trucks and up to 400 ambulances have been destroyed since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion\, and this number is increasing daily. Explosives on mines and shelling turn them into scrap\, but those that are in good condition are stolen by the Russians. With this excessive shortage\, emergency services need to choose which emergency to deal with first. The first part of the vehicles we sent out in December has been already utilized by Ukrainian saviors but unfortunately\, cars at war are consumables. We appreciate those who have donated to this project and encourageeveryone to contribute to the salvation of innocent Ukrainian saviors and civilians”.\nUKRAINE IS CALLING is a fundraising campaign launched by LUkraine asbl in October 2022. It aims to raise 10M EUR for buying 112 rescue vehicles (fire trucks and ambulances). The first convoy of 12 ambulances and 4 fire trucks was sent out to Ukraine in December 2022. 8 of these cars were graciously provided by the Ministry of Interior of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. All the vehicles were transferred to the Ministry of Healthca

SUMMARY:UKRAINE IS CALLING: Fire Truck Installation
DESCRIPTION:The damaged fire truck made its way to Luxembourg with the help of LUkraine asbl\nvolunteers for its official opening ceremony on Friday 9 December at 15:00 at Place de\nl’Europe 1.\nOn March 19\, the vehicle exploded on a mine\, some mere 20km from capital’s city center\,\nwhile driving to respond to russia’s bombing of civilian infrastructure. At the time of the\naccident\, all 8 members of the first responders crew were inside and received grave injuries\nas a result of the explosion.\nUkraine is currently one of the most mined countries in the world\, with more than 30% of its\narea contaminated with explosives\, according to OCHA. Upon retreat\, it has been recorded\nthat russian troops place mines all throughout the territory – in fields\, homes\, schools\, roads\,\nand even inside children’s toys. Such tactics have been seen in the suburbs of Kyiv during the\nspring\, this summer in Kherson\, and all over the Luhansk region. A frightening 60% of he\nnewly liberated region of Kherson is said to be contaminated with mines which pose deadly\nthreats to all Ukrainians\, citizens and troops alike.\nDue to these circumstances\, first responders and civilians risk their lives while driving or\nwalking through cities. Many have lost and will continue to lose their lives at the hands of\nmine blasts strategically placed and intended by the aggressor’s troops. So far\, the deaths of\n45 firefighters have been confirmed in addition to 100 who are severely injured\, yet the real\nfigures may be well beyond this. In an example such as this fire truck\, Ukrainians have had to\nput themselves in danger and consequently suffer great injuries while trying to extinguish\nfires and provide necessary aid for those unjustly affected.\nUKRAINE IS CALLING\, ukraineiscalling.com\, is a call to raise funds to buy 112 equipped rescue vehicles –\nambulances and fire trucks – which will be sent to war-torn Ukraine to save more innocent\nlives.

SUMMARY:Uncounted 1932.2022. Food as a weapon of genocide
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to visit the worst restaurant in the world.\nThe dishes of the “restaurant” are the foods that Ukrainians used to prevent themselves from dying in 1932-33 during the artificial famine created by the government of the Soviet Union.\nIn history\, these events were called “Holodomor” – when food became a weapon for genocide\, since it was taken from Ukrainians to the last crumb with a choice of being shot for any resistance. Therefore\, people had to eat tree bark\, grass\, straw\, etc.\nBy starving\, the Soviet authorities deliberately exterminated millions of Ukrainians. On November 26\, Ukraine commemorates the victims of the Holodomor.\nThe genocide perpetrated by the Soviet regime continues to be perpetrated by its successor\, modern Russia. Russian soldiers shoot\, torture\, rape and starve civilians in blockaded cities. We still do not know the exact number of the Holodomor victims and how many people died in the blockaded cities nowadays. The victims of the war\, as well as the Holodomor\, remain UNCOUNTED.\nResidents of the city can try the food that people ate during the Holodomor to survive. Now millions of Ukrainians are trying to survive in Ukrainian cities under shelling and rocket attacks.\nFood has again become a weapon with which Russia is now blackmailing the whole world\, trying to block ports or trying to get out of the grain agreements.\n⏰When: November 26\, 14:00 – 16:00\n????Where: Place de Clairefontaine\, Luxembourg\nNo one was punished for the crimes of the Holodomor\, so history repeats itself. The world must prevent genocide now\, because unpunished evil is coming back.

SUMMARY:Independence Day of Ukraine Concert in LUXEMBOURG
DESCRIPTION:Independence Day 2022 – what is it about this year? A year when Ukrainian cities are being bombed daily? A year when thousands of Ukrainian families learnt what “forced immigration” means… When people\, attempting to build a new life here\, are losing friends\, relatives\, homes there? … When many suffer of guilt and uncertainty… When dreaming sounds scary\, but a sense of responsibility has increased dramatically? … When we daily wake up with the only question – what shall Ukraine expect today? And what I can do for my country? On the Independence Day of 2022 – what kind of people we are? Broken but alive. Today we feel each other’s pain sharply. Thus\, we invite you to join us for the Independence Day without loud celebrations. We want to ensure you feel safe and homey. You will be able to select activities which suit you and your kids most. We promise this day will be filled with warmth and love. Please follow the event. We will share details next week.

SUMMARY:Photo exhibition "Survive the War"
DESCRIPTION:On August 23rd\, one day ahead of the Independance Day\, LUkraine absl\, the Association of Ukrainians in Luxembourg\, is opening a photo exhibition in their office (kindly provided by KPMG).We invite people of Luxembourg to join us in discovering Ukraine through the eyes and lenses of two Ukrainian photographers.\nKonsyantyn Sova and Serhiy Morugin have come together to share what they have seen in two areas of Ukraine – Kyiv\, the capital and it’s suburbs (such as Bucha)\, and Kharkiv region in the East of Ukraine. Uniting the two cities is the personality of Astamur Humba\, who’s memorial Peace Fund is co-organizing the event. Step-son to one of the photographers\, Astamur was born in Abkhazia and as a child had to flee to Ukraine\, when Russia orchestrated a war in Georgia. Although not a citizen of Ukraine or someone who’s ever had to hold a gun in his hands\, this young professional with successful career in IT had decided he wouldn’t flee again. Instead\, he joined Kyiv Territorial Defense – a volunteer branch of Ukrainian army\, quickly organized after the full-scale invasion started. Astamur went on to serve in the Ukrainian army and was sent to fight for Kharkiv – second biggest city of Ukraine\, that is suffering from attacks every day and night since the morning of February 24th 2022. Astamur died a month ago.
